Wetherby jumps card receives thumbs-up

Fri 6 Jan 2017

This afternoon's meeting at Wetherby has passed a precautionary inspection and goes ahead as scheduled.

Frost had been a potential issue at the Yorkshire circuit, but overnight cloud cover and morning rain helped to allay fears of abandonment.

A statement issued by Wetherby read: "Overnight low of minus 2C again on Thursday evening, then some cloudcover from 9pm, with temperatures of 0C all night.

"Forecast is for the cloud to remain and temps to rise to 4Cat 11am, with the possibility of some rain."

The going at Wetherby is currently good to soft, with the seven-race card due to start at 12.35pm.
