Jamie Spencer rockets to 283-1 five-timer at Yarmouth

Tue 21 Aug 2018

Jamie Spencer was in flying form at Yarmouth with a storming 283-1 five-timer at the seaside track.

Terri Rules (9-2), trained by Julia Feilden, gave the two-time champion jockey the perfect start by taking the opening Mark Sumner Golf Shops Handicap.

He completed a quick double on David Simcock’s Red Bunting (7-4), who made a winning debut in the John Kemp 4X4 Centre Of Norwich Fillies’ Novice Stakes.

Simcock and Spencer struck again when Encryption (6-4 favourite) just held the late lunge of Potters Lady Jane in the Pleasure Woods Theme Mark Maiden Handicap.

Spencer was out of luck on his next ride, Tripartite, but bounced straight back with an easy victory on Choco Box (evens favourite) for trainer Ed Vaughan in the Lowestoft Hydraulics Novice Median Auction Stakes.

He made it five on Human Nature (11-4 favourite) for Newmarket handler Stuart Williams in the Injured Jockeys Fund Handicap but had to settle for second place on the Ed Walker-trained Big Bad Lol as Gay Kelleway’s Topmeup took the concluding Family Funday At Yarmouth Racecourse Handicap under Josephine Gordon.
