Jim Crowley harbouring Classic hopes for unbeaten Elarqam

Sun 22 Oct 2017

Jim Crowley believes Elarqam has got what it takes to develop into a leading contender for next year's Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The Mark Johnston-trained son of Frankel, who is as short as 12-1 for the Classic, maintained his unbeaten record last time out when following up his debut victory at York in the Group Three Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket.

"I am looking forward to getting my leg over him again next season. I do think he is a Guineas horse and it will be very interesting," said Crowley.

"He is by a Guineas winner and out of one (Attraction) so you can't get any better breeding than that.

"He has only run twice but he has been impressive both times. He is with the right trainer and it would be lovely if I could win the race for Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and I think he is the one that could do it, so it's fingers crossed."
