Jer's Girl books Cheltenham ticket after pleasing Cromwell in Leopardstown spin

Jer's Girl is on target for next week's Cheltenham Festival after pleasing connections in a racecourse gallop at Leopardstown.

A dual Grade One winner for trainer Gavin Cromwell and owner JP McManus last spring, the five-year-old has found life tougher this season.

She was no match for Nichols Canyon on her seasonal debut in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown and failed to raise her game when last of five in the Ryanair Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas.

Cromwell has since given his charge a break and feels she is back on-song for her trip to the Cotswolds.

Cromwell said: "She worked in Leopardstown this morning and worked well, so we're happy enough with where we are.

"We were a small bit disappointed with her last run, she was just a bit flat on the day.

"In fairness to the lads they've given her time, she had a few weeks off after that and seems very well in herself now."

Jer's Girl is entered in the OLBG Mares' Hurdle, the Coral Cup and the County Hurdle at Prestbury Park.

"She's in the Mares' Hurdle and a couple of handicaps and I haven't spoken to the lads about which we're going to as yet," said Cromwell.

The Navan-based trainer also confirmed his dual Fairyhouse scorer Prospectus on course for the Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle, adding: "The more juice in the ground the better for him."
