James Tate targets Champagne moment with Hey Gaman

Thu 14 Sep 2017

Hey Gaman, game winner of the Listed Denford Stakes at Newbury, is among eight two-year-olds declared for the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday.

James Tate's son of New Approach is the veteran of six starts while, in contrast, Dream Today takes the leap into Group Two company straight after making an impressive winning debut in the Convivial Maiden Stakes at York.

Simon Crisford's Red Mist was beaten a short head by Hey Gaman and is given the chance to turn the tables.

Aidan O'Brien runs Curragh maiden winner Mendelssohn and Seahenge, who was fifth to Expert Eye in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood.

Godolphin rely upon the Charlie Appleby-trained Mythical Magic, who took his unbeaten record to two in the Prix Francois Boutin at Deauville last month.

Completing the list are the Clive Cox-trained Grand Koonta and Heather Main's Island Sound.
