Inspection called for Friday meeting at Ludlow

An inspection has been called for 8am at Ludlow ahead ofmeeting that afternoon.

Conditions were described as raceable on Wednesday but temperatures dropped to minus 5C overnight and could be minus 3C on Thursday night, before some rain is due in the morning.

The going is soft, good to soft in places on the hurdles track, and good to soft on the chase course.

The first race is scheduled for 12.50.

Thursday's jumps fixture at Lingfield was abandoned due to a frozen track.

Officials at the Surrey track knew their fate shortly before an intended 8am precautionary inspection as overnight temperatures dropped to a shuddering minus 5.5C.

Lingfield's executive added in a statement that it "was not due to rise above freezing until 11am", with a maximum high of just 2.5C throughout the day.
