Here And Now steps up for Listed mission at Chester

Fri 31 Aug 2018

Ralph Beckett hopes Here And Now can make the most of a quick turnaround in the Foxy Bingo Fast And Fabulous Chester Stakes on Saturday.

Having run out an impressive winner of a handicap at York last week, the four-year-old will make his second start inside a fortnight when competing at Listed level for the first time in his career.

In his three previous visits to the Roodee, the son of Dansili has only finished out of the frame once, along with inflicting a defeat over subsequent Ascot Gold Cup winner Stradivarius.

Beckett said: “He loves York, that really shone through last week and he really enjoyed that ground, too. It was great to see him win like that.

“There is not a lot that really suits him this autumn, so that is why we are heading to Chester, where he has won before.

“It is not out of the question him going to Newmarket for the Cesarewitch, but I’m not sure Newmarket suits him as well as a turning track.”

He added: “Ronnie Arculli purchased him after he finished third in the Melrose last year. He is always looking for promising young stayers and hopefully he fulfils those credentials.

“I’d like to take in the Ebor with him next year and go from there.”
