Herculean 'probably' finished for the season after missing Royal Lodge

Fri 29 Sep 2017

Herculean could now embark on his winter break after a dirty scope prevented him from running in Saturday's Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket.

Roger Charlton was hoping the son of Frankel would follow in his sire's footsteps by winning the Group Two after making an impressive debut at Ascot.

However, the setback has ruled him out of that event and Charlton believes he is unlikely to take up his engagements in either the Darley Dewhurst Stakes or the Racing Post Trophy next month.

He said: "I've nothing else in mind for him this season and he's probably going to be put away."
