Harry Dunlop to chase more euros with Jackfinbar

Mon 3 Sep 2018

Jackfinbar is set to return to France for the Qatar Prix Chaudenay following his victory in the Group Three Prix Du Lutece at ParisLongchamp on Sunday.

Trainer Harry Dunlop felt the three-year-old went into the 15-furlong contest with solid claims on the back of a good second place at Compiegne and a Sandown success at odds of 25-1.

His faith was justified as Jackfinbar took the honours by two lengths from old adversary Ziyad and the Group Two Prix Chaudenay over the course and distance on October 6 is the logical next move.

“He’s a horse we really liked after Sandown and the form of his Compiegne race was very good,” said Dunlop.

“He’d actually beaten the favourite (Ziyad) in that race and with Ghostwatch (runner-up at Sandown) winning the Melrose we were hopeful of a good run on Sunday.

Jim Crowley gave him a cracking ride and we picked up 60,000 euros.

“I think the Chaudenay on Arc weekend for three-year-olds is the obvious step with the trip and everything.

“Jim maybe otherwise engaged but we will definitely aim for that.”
