Frost and snow puts paid to Fakenham Sunday card

Sat 14 Jan 2017

Sunday's meeting at Fakenham has been abandoned following a Saturday afternoon inspection.

An inch and a half of snow fell on the track on Friday, after declaration time, and course officials announced a precautionary check for 1pm due to the forecast of freezing overnight temperatures.

Although frost covers were put in place to protect the take-offs and landin gs, it was felt racing would not have been possible today.

Withanother cold and clear night forecast, plus the strong possibility of further snow arriving on Sunday, those in charge have taken the "difficult decision" to call off the National Hunt fixture.
