Cheveley Park Stakes remains the objective for Angel’s Hideaway

Angel’s Hideaway is still to be aimed at the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on September 29 after failing to get the rub of the green in the Lowther Stakes.

The John Gosden-trained juvenile filly had no room for manoeuvre at a crucial stage of the Group Two at York, and was eased in the closing stages by Frankie Dettori once her chance had gone, finished last of nine behind Aidan O’Brien’s Fairyland.

Angel’s Hideaway had gone to York on the back of a convincing victory in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot.

Connections have not been deterred by what happened on the Knavesmire and will be hoping for better luck in running than she experienced there.

“She just didn’t have much luck at York,” said Chris Richardson, managing director of owners Cheveley Park Stud.

“We’re full steam ahead and the plan is still to go for the Cheveley Park.

”I was surprised the stalls were on the near side. I thought they were down the near side initially and she got pinched up and it wasn’t ideal.”
