Charlie Appleby says Blue Point is finished for the season

Mon 16 Oct 2017

Blue Point will not run again this season, said trainer Charlie Appleby.

The Group Two-winning colt had been in contention for the British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot on Saturday after he claimed the Bengough Stakes earlier in the month.

But Appleby told www.godolphin.com: "Godophin have Harry Angel in Saturday's race, and it's no good having him and Blue Point banging their heads together at this stage."

He added: "Blue Point will be trained ultimately for next year's King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot."

A statement posted on Godolphin's website said Blue Point "will be sent to winter in Dubai", with the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan the ultimate objective.
