Call To Mind team seeking stud place following career-ending injury

Mon 20 Aug 2018

Connections of Call To Mind are looking for a place at stud for the Queen’s stayer following his recent retirement due to injury.

After travelling to New York to win the Belmont Gold Cup in June, the William Haggas-trained four-year-old contested the Goodwood Cup, but was pulled up sharply by James Doyle who swiftly dismounted.

It later emerged his injuries were not life-threatening, but it was soon confirmed he would not race again.

John Warren, racing manager to the Queen, said: “He is comfortable. He has got a leg injury which will prevent him from racing again, but now we will try to find a home for him as a stallion.

“He is very well bred. He is by Galileo out of Memory. She was not just a top racemare, but her first three foals have all got black type so she is looking an important mare.

“He reads very well on the book and he is a Group Two winner that broke the track record at Belmont Park.

“I hope that someone will make an enquiry as a stallion prospect.”
