Breton Rock heads field for Hungerford Stakes at Newbury

Thu 17 Aug 2017

Goodwood winner Breton Rock will have to give weight to all 10 rivals in Saturday's Betfred Hungerford Stakes at Newbury.

David Simcock's consistent seven-year-old won the race back in 2014 and came from last to first to win the Lennox Stakes last time out.

John Gosden won the race last year with Richard Pankhurst and saddles two this time, Daban and Nathra.

Librisa Breeze got no run behind Breton Rock at Goodwood but will aim to give his trainer Dean Ivory a third successive big Saturday winner following the recent successes of Lanceleot Du Lac and Stake Acclaim.

Kaspersky will aim to sign off in Britain in style for Jane Chapple-Hyam before heading Down Under, while Massaat returns from a lengthy lay-off for Owen Burrows.

Ibn Malik, Mix And Mingle, Spangled, Sir Dancealot and Poet's Vanity complete the field for the seven-furlong Group Two.
