Connections of Alpha Centauri are hoping for a big performance after the star grey filly was one of 11 horses declared for the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville on Sunday.

The Niarchos family-owned filly has carried all before her this season, winning the Irish 1,000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes and Falmouth Stakes in tremendous fashion.

This weekend is set to bring an eagerly-awaited first clash against the colts.

"The rain on Thursday wasn't nearly as bad as elsewhere and the expectation for Sunday is of good ground, maybe just on the fast side," Niarchos Family racing manager Alan Cooper told the Racing Post.

"The straight track will suit Alpha Centauri and now it's time for the filly to do the talking."

Flying French filly With You, who won the Prix Rothschild last time, also takes her chance, as does surprise Queen Anne Stakes winner Accidental Agent and Irish 2,000 Guineas winne Romanised, who was seventh to Without Parole in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last time.

Jessica Harrington reported on Thursday night that her stable flagbearer is ready for her first start in France.

“Alpha Centauri is in good form and I have been happy with her since Ascot," she said after saddling the final winner at Leopardstown on Thursday evening.

“They didn’t get half as much rain today as they thought they would and it should stay dry now.

“We’ll keep our fingers crossed.”

Others declared were: Noor Al Hawa, Recoletos, Trais Flours, Success Days, Zalamea, Intellogent, Cascadian.
