Hamilton Park, situated just 10 miles south of Glasgow, is set in beautiful surroundings and enjoys a reputation for being one of the most picturesque in Britain. It is a stamina-sapping track and shaped like a tennis racket.
Racing has been staged in Hamilton since 1782 but only on the present course since 1926. On July 18 1947 it became the first course in Britain to stage an evening fixture while on May 8, 1971 the racecourse became the first to hold a morning meeting.
