The Galway Festival is the stuff of legend and folklore as the entire Irish racing fraternity descends on Ballybrit for a seven-day meeting.
The Galway Plate and the Guinness Handicap Hurdle are the two focal points of the week when quality mixed racing brings the two codes together and has facilities to match. A right-handed course of 10 furlongs with a sharp decent to the turn in and and an uphill finish of two furlongs, Ballybrit opened in August 1869. It is 136 miles from Dublin.
