
Based just outside the town in Monmouthshire, near the southern end of the Wye Valley, the track is quite undulating. There is a straight mile on the Flat and the jumps course is nearly two miles round. The main event by far is the Welsh National at Christmas.
Opened in 1926, it is one of three racecourses in Wales, the others being at Bangor-on-Dee and at Ffos Las in Carmarthenshire, opened in 2009.
