Pontefract pub ‘great environment’ to host Racing UK broadcast
Racing UK’s innovative outside broadcast live from The Boot & Shoe pub in Ackworth, near Pontefract, West Yorkshire, was hailed as a resounding success by landlord Les Thompson.
The West Yorkshire pub saw off hundreds of entries to win the June 1 tipping competition (powered by bodugi.com) and host Racing UK’s broadcast on June 13, which was presented by Niall Hannity and Dave Nevison.
It was the second time Racing UK has presented from a pub, following The Junction Inn’s (also in West Yorkshire) win in a similar competition last year.
Landlord Thompson said: “The evening showed how racing can draw people together and what a great environment the pub is to watch the action.
“Racing should be all about having a drink and a bet and a bit of banter, and that was certainly very much in evidence during the broadcast. Niall and Dave were great company and got on brilliantly with the punters.”
Clive Cottrell, Marketing Director at Racing UK, added: “We received some excellent feedback on the channel following the broadcast. The excellent interaction between presenters and locals certainly created a lively atmosphere in the pub, which I think came across well on the channel.”
As an independent sports channel, Racing UK doesn't require a Sky subscription and is not reliant on any other service. It therefore offers pubs and clubs a cost-effective service to show a high volume of coverage.
Racing UK is available on Sky 432 (UK, NI, ROI) or UPC 411 (ROI) and is currently shown in more than 3,500 pubs and clubs. It is the only place where fans can watch every race from Britain's top 30 racecourses. For more details, please visit racinguk.com/business or call 0870 351 8834.
