ValuePlus has bookies at his mercy
Thursday 17 January 2013
Nick Robson, the Racing Plus newspaper top tipster, has started 2013 in red-hot form.
His popular ValuePlus tipping service has fired home winners for fun over the past five Saturdays and he has a big ante-post wager lined up in this Saturday’s paper.
His tips going back to December 15 have yielded a profit of £40 to a £1 stake, and in 2013 he is already up 22.5pts.
And if 16-1 shot Captain Sunshine had stood up over the last flight at Kempton on Saturday his profit column might have been monstrous.
Robson is already building a strong portfolio for the Cheltenham Festival too, which is just eight weeks away, adding a 6-1 beauty in last weekend’s paper for the Ryanair Chase.
“I think there could be a lot of value to be had at Cheltenham this year with the weather being what it is,” said Robson, who also appears every Saturday morning on Racing UK’s Mark Your Card programme.
“If the ground comes up good, or even good to soft there will be a lot of horses at big prices due to their form on heavy going throughout the winter.
“I like to look for horses that have run well in Ireland in desperate ground that should improve for a return to better ground.
“Mouse Morris often has a few like this and he has done well at The Festival with these types in the past.
“That said, I think Sir Des Champs is too short in the Gold Cup after his run in the Lexus Chase. I have backed him for the past two seasons at The Festival but this season he should not be second favourite, given what he has achieved this year.”
Last weekend Robson tipped up Cue Card at 6-1 to win the Ryanair Chase in his column on the premise that few horses in the current ante-post lists would make the starter.
Make sure you buy Racing Plus this Saturday for Robson’s latest ante-post investment as he will be looking to take on Far West, the Triumph Hurdle favourite.
“Far West’s form looks significantly over-rated and Handazan, who was second to Far West at Cheltenham in December, hardly gave the form a boost when fifth at Doncaster last week,” Robson added.
