Trees in line for Abbaye repeat
Tuesday 28 August 2012
Tangerine Trees is likely to head straight for Longchamp in an attempt to win back-to-back renewals of the Prix de l'Abbaye.
Bryan Smart's seven-year-old gelding has been winless since his finest hour in France last October. He had not shown much to get excited about so far this season but ran a decent race in the Nunthorpe at York last week, beaten just over four lengths by the Australian mare Ortensia.
"I think we'll go straight for the Abbaye," said Smart.
"I actually think he ran quite well at York.
"He wasn't beaten that far at all and I was pleased with him."
