Racing UK’s unbeatable Breeders’ Cup guide
Tuesday 11 September 2012
The Breeders’ Cup is only eight weeks away and Racing UK has drafted in our American experts in order to bring into focus the ‘World Championships” of racing.
Mark Johnson, the track caller at Churchill Downs, and Rachel Candelora, the Twin Spires co-ordinator at the same track, tee-up this year’s action at Santa Anita Park.
First up the pair look at the characteristics of the Californian racetrack, highlighting the twists and turns and the unique nature of the sprint course.
Having established that horses with good front-running ability do well at Santa Anita Johnson and Candelora look at five horses who might continue the good run of European horses in California including a dark horse trained by David Simcock.
Although the Europeans have a good record at Santa Anita, their record on dirt stands at just one from 31 attempts in the past five years. As such, our analysts highlight five American horses that can lead the home defence.
