Newmarket trip for Hoof It

Tuesday 26 June 2012

Hoof It

Hoof It is on target to run in the John Sunley Memorial Criterion Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday, with Frankie Dettori booked to ride.

Mick Easterby's talented sprinter was a creditable fifth in the Duke of York Stakes on his seasonal reappearance, but missed Royal Ascot as connections were not totally satisfied with his condition.

The Darley July Cup is his next major target and he will warm up for that Group One prize with a run over six furlongs this weekend. Dettori will be in the saddle for the first time.

Chubby Chandler, who owns the five-year-old with leading golfer Lee Westwood, said on Twitter: "Prep race on Saturday at Newmarket with Frankie riding! Over seven furlongs but will be useful."
