Newfangled in line to shine in Lowther

Tuesday 21 August 2012

Newfangled puts her unbeaten record on the line in Thursday's Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes at York.

The John Gosden-trained filly has won both her starts to date, most recently when cruising home in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and she is already a leading fancy for next year's Classics.

William Haggas' Rosdhu Queen is similarly unbeaten and won a Listed heat at Newbury recently while James Fanshawe's Badr Al Badoor has won her only start to date.

Pearl Sea is well-regarded by connections and represents David Brown while Mark Johnston relies upon French Group Three-placed Baileys Jubilee.

All Fur Coat, City Girl, Royal Rascal, Sandreamer, The Gold Cheongsam and Threes Grand make up the 11-strong field.

Newfangled spearheads a group of six horses who Mark Howard, the Racing UK analyst, has earmarked to run well over the four days of York's Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival. Watch his analysis, with video form, below.
