Newcastle ruled out for Reaper

Talented sprinter The Reaper has been ruled out of this weekend's Betfred Mobile Lotto Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle on account of the testing conditions.
The four-year-old was placed in two fiercely competitive handicaps at the Dubai Carnival at Meydan earlier this year and has returned to Ireland in excellent form.
Since winning a Listed race at Cork, Ger Lyons' charge has run well twice in defeat, but the trainer believes he needs fast ground to be fully effective.
"He definitely isn't going to travel," said Lyons.
"I spoke to the clerk of the course (at Newcastle) this morning and they don't envisage anything better than soft ground.
"Unfortunately, The Reaper is like a lot of mine in that he likes really decent ground and because of the way the weather has been, we've not been able to get him out.
"He's in fantastic order at the moment and I'm keen to get him out somewhere as I think he'll run really well wherever he turns up."
