Musselburgh nominated for prestigious title
Musselburgh Racecourse is in the running for a prestigious Racecourse of the Year Award.
The East Lothian track has been nominated for the coveted prize in the Betview Awards, which recognises outstanding achievement across the UK and Irish betting trade.
Industry magazine Betview said it received a large number of high quality entries and the winner will be honoured at a gala event in London in May.
Betview editor Justin O’Regan said: “The awards reward the ingenuity, innovation and hard work which is going on across the UK and Republic of Ireland betting and gaming industries.
“Musselburgh Racecourse has been selected as a finalist in the ‘Racecourse of the Year’ category which is presented to the racecourse which provides the best experience for the betting and racing public.
"We have been delighted with the quality and quantity of nominations received for the Betview Awards 2012 and our finalists should be proud that their contributions to one of the most innovative and dynamic industries in the leisure sector has been recognised.”
Musselburgh Racecourse general manager, Bill Farnsworth, said: “The continual programme of improving and fine tuning all our operations at Musselburgh, and giving genuine value for money to racegoers, is paying off with nominations such as this one.
“It’s always nice to be recognised by your peers and while we are up against some quality entries, Musselburgh punches well above its weight in terms of the quality of the race day experience we provide throughout the flat and jumps seasons.”
The nomination follows another Musselburgh success when the course picked up an award for Operational Excellence in the Racecourse Association Showcase Awards. The only Scottish racecourse with a VisitScotland 5 Star visitor attraction status, Musselburgh was praised for its operational performance and for delivering exceptional customer service.
