Saturday 16 June 2012

Bated Breath

Bated Breath is among 23 sprinters declared for Tuesday's King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Trainer Roger Charlton had mentioned on Friday that his participation may not be decided until an hour before the race due to the possibility of soft ground.

To be on the safe side Bated Breath still holds an entry in Saturday's Diamond Jubilee when the ground is expected to be quicker.

Australian speedball Ortensia is favourite after her win in Dubai from Sole Power and the Irish raider is also among the declarations, despite Eddie Lynam suggesting last week he was an unlikely runner.

There are plenty of other overseas runner with Robert Collet's Wizz Kid, Joy And Fun and Little Bridge from Hong Kong adding further interest.

Henry Candy will run both Amour Propre and Dinkum Diamond while Epsom Dash winner Stone Of Folca is also there.

Nunthorpe winner Margot Did will be looking to bounce back to form while Robert Cowell has three runners, last year's winner Prohibit, the consistent Monsieur Joe and Spirit Quartz.

Kevin Ryan's Bapak Chinta, a winner at the meeting last year, and Bryan Smart's Prix de l'Abbaye winner Tangerine Trees and also engaged.
