Hat-trick strike for Gospel
Saturday 11 August 2012
Gospel Choir secured a hat-trick of wins in a top-notch renewal of the nationwidevehiclecontracts.co.uk Levy Board Handicap at Haydock.
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt (5-2 favourite) was always handy under Ryan Moore, who closely tracked the front-running Three Bards until that rival grew weary three furlongs out.
Anjaz then picked up the gauntlet, but Gospel Choir easily won their exchange before keeping the on-rushing Stencive at bay by half a length.
John Marsh, senior manager for Gospel Choir's owners, Cheveley Park Stud, said: "He's a typically progressive horse of Sir Michael's. I don't know what the handicapper will do now, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of opportunities for him."
