Harbour to swerve Goodwood

Tuesday 24 July 2012

Harbour Watch

Harbour Watch will sidestep his intended reappearance at Glorious Goodwood next week as he continues to recover from a hind-leg injury.

The son of Acclamation has been sidelined since winning the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood 12 months ago.

Richard Hannon had pencilled in the Lennox Stakes as a possible starting point for Harbour Watch, who was the highest-rated British-trained two-year-old of 2011.

However, he will now miss that seven-furlong event as Hannon wants to give his star performer more time.

The East Everleigh trainer told www.richardhannonracing.co.uk: "Harbour Watch will not be ready in time for Goodwood.

"It was a tricky injury and we have had to take our time, but, though he is making steady progress, you cannot go for a race like the Lennox half-cocked.

"We will talk to David Redvers (racing manager to owner Sheikh Fahad) and Robin Heffer (joint-owner) and formulate another plan."
