Champion trainer Richard Hannon saddles City Image and Maureen in Friday's Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket.

City Image recorded her second victory from as many starts in a Listed race over course and distance last month, while Maureen impressed on her only start at Newbury.

"City Image only got warmed up just in time when winning over five on her debut at Windsor, so we thought she would be suited by stepping up to six furlongs for the Empress Stakes over this course and she won that Listed race in some style," the trainer told www.richardhannonracing.co.uk.

"She is a decent filly, as is Maureen, who might benefit from sticking to six rather than dropping back to five for the Super Sprint, where she was obviously well in. She travelled like a dream on her debut at Newbury and, though it looked an ordinary race, she was impressive and deserves a crack at black type here."

Bryan Smart's Mandy Layla has plenty to find on official ratings, but has shown smart form on her two appearances. The daughter of Excellent Art was fourth behind a subsequent Listed winner on debut and confirmed that promise with victory at Hamilton,

Smart said: "Her form is good and she's in really good order, so I think she deserves to have a crack at getting some black type. She's had a really good start and we'll find out a bit more about her. It is soft ground now and that will be a bit of an unknown, but we'll give it a go."
