Haggas filly sent to York

Sentaril

Royal Ascot runner-up Sentaril aims to regain the winning thread in the tyregiant.com Summer Stakes at York tomorrow.

The William Haggas-trained filly could not have been more impressive on her racecourse introduction at Newbury in April, beating her rivals pointless by eight lengths and more, and after following up in routine style in a Doncaster conditions event, the three-year-old came from a long way back to finish second to Ishvana in the Jersey Stakes.

She drops down to six furlongs for the first time in the Group Three test on the Knavesmire, with Kelly Harrison taking over in the saddle from Johnny Murtagh.

Haggas said: "She's in good form and handles softer ground, so you'd have to hope she goes up there with a nice chance. Johnny rode her to get the trip at Ascot and she was just getting going at the end. There was no pace on early and Johnny felt that's what cost him.

"We know she's a nice filly and we're looking forward to running her again, so fingers crossed."

It could be a big afternoon for young rider Harrison, but Haggas does not expect the change of jockey to be a problem.

"It's a good opportunity for Kelly. She rides her out all the time and knows her backwards," said the Newmarket trainer.

Sentaril faces 11 rivals, including Group One-winning sprinter Margot Did, who has failed to fire so far this season.

Other interesting contenders include German raider Gracia Directa, James Fanshawe's Hallelujah and Warwick Listed race winner Radio Gaga.
