Farhh added to Eclipse field

Monday 2 July 2012

Farhh

Godolphin have supplemented Farhh for Saturday's Coral Eclipse at Sandown, as was widely expected.

The lightly-raced four-year-old was a fast-finishing third in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot when he made the leap from handicaps to Group One company.

Farhh is trained by Saeed bin Suroor and his Godolphin counterpart Mahmood Al Zarooni could be represented by Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso and City Style.

"Farhh came out his latest run sound and has looked well since Royal Ascot," Bin Suroor said.

"He is taking on some very good horses again but he showed in the Prince of Wales's Stakes that he is an improving horse and that a mile and a quarter suits him well.

"Softer ground is the key for him and I hope that there is plenty of rain before the weekend."

A total of 15 runners are still engaged in the Group One, including Aidan O'Brien's So You Think, winner of the Ascot contest. O'Brien has also left in Daddy Long Legs, Windsor Palace and Robin Hood.

The in-form John Gosden has earmarked the race for last year's King George winner Nathaniel, while Sir Henry Cecil's multiple Group One winner Twice Over is also a likely runner.

Andrew Balding's Bonfire and Brian Meehan's Cogito are the three-year-old possibles, along with Daddy Long Legs.

The only overseas entrant is Alain de Royer-Dupre Giofra while Roger Charlton's globetrotter Cityscape and Marco Botti's Crackerjack King are other contenders, along with Sri Putra.

Sir Michael Stoute's Carlton House was an expected absentee along with Cecil's star colt Frankel and the O'Brien-trained Excelebration.

Coral - Eclipse Stakes: 10-11 So You Think, 4 Farhh, 9 Nathaniel, 12 Bonfire, Cityscape, 16 Crackerjack King, Monterosso, 20 Daddy Long Legs, Giofra, Twice Over, 40 City Style, 50 Cogito, 66 Sri Putra, 250 Robin Hood, Windsor Palace
