De Sousa a shining Light

Silvestre de Sousa is enjoying a summer renaissance and lifted the feature Talk To Victor Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock on the Godolphin challenger Hunter's Light.
The 3-1 shot was never far away under the Brazilian rider as Ransom Note scampered clear once the gates opened for the Group Three contest.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained winner eased upsides the long-time leader at the three-furlong pole and galloped into an unassailable advantage. Jet Away, the 15-8 favourite, gave chase in vain and was two lengths adrift at the line.
De Sousa said: "He travelled well, so I just let him roll. He's gone and done it well. That was a Group Three, so perhaps we'll look for a Group Two now. Everything was right for him - the trip and the ground was perfect."
Godolphin representative Diana Cooper added: "He had won three Listed races, so we thought we'd step him up a notch - he has gone and done it nicely. I don't know what he'll do now, but there will be plenty of opportunities over 10 furlongs on good ground."
De Sousa was completing a double after Barracuda Boy (6-1) pocketed the John Budworth Hughes Memorial Nursery.
A winner at Bath on his last start in July, the two-year-old kept on gamely for a length-and-a-quarter verdict over The Taj to maintain Cheshire trainer Tom Dascombe's rich vein of form.
Dascombe said: "I wish they'd race every day at Haydock, because we have a good record here. We've always liked this horse. He learned his trade on soft ground, and now it has quickened up he finds it easier. Hopefully he'll make up into a very nice three-year-old.
"He's in the Doncaster sales race at York (DBS Premier Yearling Stakes, August 23) and that'll probably be his last race of the season."
