Cox targets Morny before Newmarket

Wednesday 1 August 2012

Reckless Abandon

Clive Cox's unbeaten juvenile Reckless Abandon is one of 56 entries in the Dubai Middle Park Stakes, one of the features on Dubai Future Champions Day at Newmarket on October 13.

Having won the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, Cox sent his new stable star to France where he won the Prix Robert Papin, and another foreign excursion is on the agenda before Newmarket can be considered.

"Reckless Abandon has been entered in the Middle Park Stakes. The intention at the moment is to go for the Prix Morny at Deauville on August 19 and then possibly head to Newmarket," said Cox.

"I am very happy with him and he seems to have thrived since Ascot.

"He has come back from Maisons-Laffitte in very good order and we have been delighted with the progress he has made this season."

Aidan O'Brien has 10 entries, headed by Gale Force Ten, while David Wachman's Railway Stakes winner Probably also gives Ireland a strong chance.

Richard Hannon is a man to be feared in these events and has Alhebayeb, winner of the July Stakes, and Sir Prancealot among his team.
