Camelot in Voltigeur frame

Wednesday 4 July 2012

Camelot

Camelot has been given an entry for the Neptune Investment Management Great Voltigeur Stakes at York on August 22.

It is widely believed Aidan O'Brien's 2000 Guineas and dual Derby winner will head for the Ladbrokes St Leger without having another run, but the trainer has given him the option of the premier trial for the Doncaster Classic.

A total of 43 entries have been received for the race, with O'Brien's options stretching into double figures, but there are a number of other interesting horses in the race.

They include David Lanigan's Derby runner-up Main Sequence, as well as Sir Henry Cecil's pair of Thomas Chippendale and Noble Mission, who were first and second in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

A strong squad for John Gosden is headed by Michelangelo, who burst into the Leger reckoning when winning at Newmarket last weekend, as well as the useful Thought Worthy and Shantaram.
