Van on target for Trophy
Tuesday 23 October 2012
Van Der Neer is Richard Hannon's one certain runner in Saturday's Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster, with connections still to decide over the participation of stablemate Havana Gold.
The Saeed Manana-owned Van Der Neer is unbeaten in two starts, at Yarmouth and then on soft ground at Leicester last week, while Havana Gold, who falls under Sheikh Fahad Al Thani's Qatar Bloodstock banner, has recorded four victories from six starts, including a Listed race and a Group Three.
He was most recently beaten a head by Ghurair in the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Trophy.
"We supplemented Van Der Neer on Monday so he runs. We've been very happy with him and he has been working well," said Hannon's son and assistant, Richard junior.
"We'll have to wait and see with Havana Gold. He seems in good form and we'll see what the race looks like and discuss it with connections a bit nearer the time. We'll run one, or both."
