Dandino set for more air miles

Dandino

A trip to Hong Kong could be on the agenda for Dandino after his excellent second in the Canadian International last Sunday.

The five-year-old came with a flying finish to go down by just half a length to the Marco Botti-trained Joshua Tree in the Grade One event over 12 furlongs.

Previously a winner of a Kempton Group Three for trainer James Fanshawe, Dandino's owners the Elite Racing Club are now hoping to go for the Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin on December 9.

Racing manager Matthew Budden said: "We were delighted with his run on Sunday and we will see how he comes back from Canada before making any definite plans.

"He's due back on Thursday so we will see how it goes, but the Hong Kong Vase may be a possibility. If he runs again this year, that could be the race.

"He finished so well on Sunday. He got shuffled a bit wide at the top of the straight but he picked up near the finish and it might have been a different story in another few yards.

"It's been a difficult year for him but I think what he needs is a proper race. He seems to thrive on a competitive race.

"I would imagine he will stay in training next year. He's given our members so much fun."
