Mosse on target again with Siyouma

Monday 15 October 2012

Siyouma

Siyouma landed a famous victory for trainer Francois Doumen and jockey Gerald Mosse in the E.P Taylor Stakes at Woodbine in Canada.

Winner of the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket over a mile on her previous start, the four-year-old took a keen hold under Mosse, who sat in an ideal position just off the heels of the leaders in this 10-furlong Group One event.

The response when he asked her to quicken in the straight was immediate and the daughter of Medicean won with her ears pricked from Olivier Peslier on the Henri-Alex Pantall-trained Pagera. Dream Peace was third and Kissable fourth.

The Frenchman's victory came just a day after he partnered Reckless Abandon to success in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket.

Dermot Weld's Princess Highway tried to throw down a challenge on the outside but could never get on terms, while Frankie Dettori's mount Havant, now with Freddie Head and once of Sir Michael Stoute, finished as well as anything but was just out of the frame.
