Ryan thrilled with Jade effort

Kevin Ryan was delighted with the effort of Indian Jade in finishing third in Sunday's Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp.
The youngster was a big outsider for the seven-furlong Group One but defied his odds in picking up minor honours behind Richard Hannon's Olympic Glory
Ryan said: "I always knew he had a big race in him. We had him entered in all the sales races and because of the prize-money you feel obliged to run. They were never going to suit him, especially over six furlongs. He showed (on Sunday) how good he is, he hated the ground, too, but he's that good he still ran a cracker."
Ryan was equally pleased with the performance of Captain Ramius at Ascot on Saturday. Turned out a fortnight after his Ayr Gold Cup victory, the six-year-old was fourth in the similarly competitive Betfred Challenge Cup.
"He ran a blinder but coming back just two weeks after the Ayr Gold Cup took its toll," said the trainer.
"He'd been trained for Ayr and it just maybe came too quick. I think he'll run again but probably in a Listed race rather than giving away weight in a handicap. We'll keep him at seven furlongs, that's his trip. I think you need a seven-furlong horse for Ayr."
