Frankel gallop live ONLY on Racing UK

Tuesday 25 September 2012

Racing UK (Sky 432) will be showing one of Frankel's final public appearances when he gallops before racing on the Rowley Mile course at Newmarket on Saturday.

The Sir Henry Cecil-trained superstar is due into the parade ring at 12.45pm and then will gallop shortly after under Tom Queally, alongside stable companions Bullet Train and Midsummer Sun.

All three riders will wear differing silks to aid racegoers and those watching on Racing UK, and Alex Steedman and Steve Mellish will be on hand to get all the reaction from the gallop.

The undefeated colt, who is set to have one more run on Qipco Champions Day before retirement, will be the headline attraction of the weekly Mark Your Card programme, which starts at 12.30pm and is free to view for ALL Sky customers.

"He worked on Guineas Saturday and it went extremely well. He'll be coming into the pre-parade at around 12.40 and getting saddled up. The jockeys will wear silks and have number cloths on," director of racing Michael Prosser said.

"He will work over seven and half furlongs and then go back into the winner's enclosure, so it will be treated like a race.

"We had massive crowds the last time Frankel worked before the first race and I think we are doing a bit more this time with silks etc.

"Please come early, the forecast for Saturday is very good and we are very lucky."

Racing UK will be showing all 22 races live from the three-day Cambridgeshire Festival, including 14 exclusive races. Visit our TV schedule for more.
