Hayley Turner: Jockey Profile

Biography

Hayley Turner (Born January 3, 1983) started race-riding in March 2000 and gained her first win on Generate at Pontefract in June 4, 2000. Five years later she was crowned joint Champion Apprentice, and on November 16, 2008, won her first Group race on Lady Deauville in the Lando-Trophy in Germany.

Turner became the first female jockey to ride 100 UK Flat race winners during a calendar year, after winning on Mullitovermaurice at Wolverhamtpn on December 30, 2008. In 2011 she made history by becoming the first woman to ride a Group 1 winner outright, when Dream Ahead won the July Cup at Newmarket. The following month, she won again at the highest level courtesy of Margot Did in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

Later that year she was crowned William Hill Sportswoman of the Year and Jaguar's most Influential Sports Woman of the Year. In May 2012, she added Glamour Sportswoman of the Year to her accolades.

Her golden run has continued in 2012, when she scooped another victory at the highest level, the Grade 1 Beverley D Stakes, thanks to I'm A Dreamer's fantastic win.
