When you’re not strong, Lean On Pete

Today's Selection:
2.20 Mussleburgh - Lean on Pete

Another day in the office for me today. I am in the studio with James Willoughby to handle all the action from Goodwood. I will be heading in to watch the afternoon action though as there is some really good stuff on your favourite racing channel through the day. My poor run continued yesterday with Cantal finishing second at Yarmouth. In truth she never looked like winning, but at least we got something of a shout in the final quarter mile. Having a shout does not pay the bills though and hopefully we can go one better today.

My selection today is Lean on Pete in the 2.20 at Musselburgh, ridden by Graham Lee. This lightly-raced gelding comes into this competitive handicap on the back of two good runs on the all weather. He was given one of those rides that some describe as enterprising last time out, which essentially is posh speak for kicked too soon and was caught close home! In essence he should have won and today under Lee he will get a better ride and looks poised to lose his maiden tag providing he performs to the same level on the turf.

I do not often highlight horses to follow here on the blog as I am simply setting myself up for a fall, but I will break that habit today and give you Mollyow as one for your Nag Me service. This horse has been running well over hurdles and looks well handicapped on the falt and certainly ran like that yesterday at Yarmouth. Settled in rear Mollyow never got involved in the action under a badly judged ride. She made good late ground but had no chance the way the race panned out. Trained by an unfasionable trainer in Terry Clement she looks a surefire winner of a modest staying handicap in the near future, she just needs a decent ride.

Nag Me Selection - Mollyow

Incidentally the Racing UK Website does have an excellent Nag Me service that you can use.

Aside from this great game of ours I am in a dilemma. Do I leave the washing on the line when I go to work or do I bring it in. There are showers around, but the sun is shining. Whatever I do I am certain to get it wrong, but I need to make a decision. the safe option is to bring it in, but I like a punt. Decisions decisions!

With work in mind I need to get myself organised and ready for the drive to Ealing. Have a good day folks

All the best
