Can you keep the noise down just a little please?
They say you should always keep trying out new experiences in life and I am going to take that on board tonight when I attend my first every opera. Yes, I can't believe that I would ever put those words into print but I will be supporting a friend who is in the cast and it will be a new experience for me, however I do have some concerns. Obviously I will have my mobile with me and will be watching Racing UK coverage from Chester and Newmarket with my ear-peace firmly lodged in place as I don't want to completely waste my evening, but I do have concerns.
Firstly will I be able to get a decent reception in the theatre and secondly how loud are the singers going to be? I don't want them getting annoyed if I have to shush them a little as the horses are coming off the final turn at Chester. My guess is I will last until at least the first interval and I hope there is an interval or two because I am told that these things can go on longer than a three-mile seller at Sedgefield. Anyway I have said I will go now and I have been told the buffet backstage afterwards is phenomenal. We will see.
There are lots of tricky cards today, especially the one at Chester on Racing UK this evening which looks like a bookies’ bonanza. I am going to play safe today and follow the form of Sir Michael Stoute who has started banging in the winners over the last week or so.
Desert Sunrise will be today’s selection, she ran green but stayed on to beat all his opponents apart from Godolphin's Lovely Pass at Lingfield first time out. Lovely Pass has run well at Ascot since and that experience and the good recent stable form leads me to believe this horse will be making a winning start to the day in the 2pm at Doncaster. And keep an eye on Grey Mirage at Doncaster who is expected to put up the below-par run last time well behind him.
