Selling houses is not all there is in the world…

Today's tip:

4.00pm Thirsk: Icy Blue

I am in the studio today for all the action from Thirsk. A seven-race card will keep me busy all afternoon. When Thirsk ends, Kempton will kick into gear. All in all as far as Mondays are concerned it's a pretty busy day.

Our run of annoying seconds continued on Saturday with Strong Suit in the Hungerford Stakes. Today I am going to rely on Icy Blue in the 4.00 at Thirsk. Richard Whitaker has his horses in tremendous form and this horse comes into his own at this time of year (nothing to do with the weather and everything but more to do with his handicap mark).

Indeed he won on this card last year off a 3lb higher mark. He has excuses for his two recent rubs at Ripon and Carlisle and before then looked to be coming back to form with a very good third place at Ripon. I think he will be a a 7-1 shot come the off and should be backed each-way.

I had an interesting experience yesterday. We took our daughter to a park and then went for a drink and something to eat in a cafe nearby. Sitting next to us were four rather posh folk, who were talking in a loud manner about a number of property deals they were engaged in.

One chap was telling the whole world how his £4million farm had not sold yet, but he was not worried as the proceeds were only for petty cash purposes. As he and the others told tales of recent multi-million pound deals my daughter wandered off with her mum for a minute or so and I continued to listen to the big-headed boasting at the table opposite.

Suddenly my daughter ran past their table and at the top of her voice bellowed "Dadda!" I turned around to see her smiling face and without thinking looked at the table of self-proclaimed millionaires and said to them "that is priceless!"

Suffice to say they disappeared pretty quickly.

I hope you have a very enjoyable day.
