Mr Hind has the key to the jockeys’ title
10 August 2012
Many punters have no interest at all in the jockeys’ championship, but they would be wrong not to take very close note of jockey bookings as it is without doubt another aid to finding winners.
Especially this year as Mr Hughes and Mr Moore barring accidents will be going hell for leather from now until the end of the season. They have several trainers and owners in common so perhaps the title should really be 'Top Jockey's Agent' but that would not be a race as the last time I checked the two top jockeys shared the services of Tony Hind.
The point I am trying to get across is that when Richard Hughes is travelling up to Haydock on a Friday night when he could easily pick up a couple of rides in the south we should take a closer look.
Hence today's selection Professor in the EBF Novice Stakes at Haydock tonight. Richard Hannon's two-year-old is already a course winner, granted in a slow time, but he was eased in the final furlong and the extra distance today, along with firmer ground, should guarantee that Mr Hughes has a happy, but long ride home.
Currently Hughes is 2/5 Favourite and Ryan Moore is around 13/5 with such a long way still to go I think there will be several twists and turns in this battle yet and to take 2/5 and then have to wait until November for a pay-out is madness. Have a small lay bet on Hughesie with a view to trade out before the end of September.
Good luck today
