Resident tipster
John McWhinnie - Resident Tipster for 2012
31 January 2012
Many thanks to Racing UK for the opportunity to be the Resident Tipster/Blogger for 2012, and thanks also to Matt Cooper for his contribution to the site in 2011.
I hope my blog will have something for everybody, with a few winners to go with it. It will be in the following format:
Monthly Competition:
My aim will be to beat last years results, 268 winners and a 35% strike rate, to achieve this my selections will contain horses at all prices, but just to be clear, these selections will not always carry my own money as I do not back odds-on, rarely at under 3/1 and never in Hunter Chases, Sellers or Amateur rider races.
Additional selections and the Exchanges:
I will also offer my thoughts and selections for the day as well as reviews from previous days racing, most of these may well be LAY bets, this is where I make consistent profits. The selections again will be no bigger than 4/1 (5.0) in the win market and 1/2 (1.5) in the place market. If you do not use the exchanges that's is fine but please take note of these selections as they will rarely win.
Twitter:
I do not like emails and I rarely answer the phone, however Twitter has changed the way I trade almost as much as Betfair has. If you where offered a constant stream of information from over 500 people in the business, why would you not take advantage? This instant feed gives me pre/post race analysis of races from top pundits, paddock watchers, trainers and jockeys plus up to the minute changes in going and odds etc. If I can't be at the course to see something that I was going to back, sweating up badly at the start or in the ring, then I can guarantee someone else will be there and I will know about it, you can see my point. I also 'tweet' additional information throughout the day and any additional selections. If you want to follow me sign up, it's free and look for @ProlificRUK and the main RUK feed which is @RacingUk
Competitions:
I may also from time to time run a couple of small competitions which I will put on the Forum, probably on Sundays and just for fun, I am currently re-furbishing the library in the East wing
and have a few racing books I need to get rid off.
I hope as I said there is something for everyone and look forward to an exciting year ahead.
