Hopes high for an Amazing Win
8 February 2012
I must apologise for not writing a blog yesterday, all morning I was chasing my tail without getting anywhere near it and thus having a spare moment to bring you some of my thoughts was just not there. Today all is well, even if I did spend an hour and a half of the night sleeping on the floor in my daughter’s room next to her cot! Predictably she is bright as a button this morning and I am, well, shall we say alive!
Unfortunately there is not much racing to go at today although Racing UK will be bringing you all of the all-weather action from Kempton this afternoon. This meeting was originally scheduled to be an evening fixture, but has been moved to the afternoon and we will be bringing it to you live. It is quite a good eight-race card and I am particularly interested in Amazing Win in the 6pm contest. Two starts ago she ran very well here at Kempton finishing second to Peace Seeker over today’s trip of six furlongs, in doing so she posted a decent speed figure and at this trip he looks like a well handicapped horse.
Last time out for some inexplicable reason she ran over a mile and half a furlong at Wolverhampton and clearly did not stay. All her best form has been at sprint trips and given the return to six today at a track where she has shown her form before she looks like a decent wager. Some will cite the fact that she is still a maiden as a black mark against her, but I have seen nothing wrong in her attitude and let’s face it she is relatively unexposed as a sprinter.
I am at home today and will be getting ready for a decent card at Meydan tomorrow. I will be covering it from the studio tomorrow with James Willoughby as my guest and the feature event will be round two of the Al Maktoum Challenge. This race usually has some significant bearing on the market for the Dubai World Cup and as such is a race not to be missed. Once I have had a look at the Meydan card the rest of the day belongs to me and I may well make my way to the gym at some point although motivation for that kind of thing of late has been somewhat lacking I am afraid!
I hope you have a peaceful day.

Amazing Win finished last, Angus. It is not an exact science as we all know. What with the current recession, I have virtually stopped betting now. Only waiting for one called Barogue Man, that ran last, last October. Then, I will be merely viewing the spectacle that I have enjoyed for fifty years.
