Hop, skip and jump!

20 July 2012

I am not talking about the Olympics when I say those three words. I am describing the final few yards of Head Space's performance in the final few yards of his last race. Ruth Carr's four-year-old has done this before and he has a 'Dayjur' moment when he sees the freshly cut grass across the finishing line.

Perhaps he is just superstitious. I will be looking to see the quality of the groundwork at the Yorkshire track today before placing a bet on this horse. I am sure the team from Racing UK will be pointing this out too, if all is well I am prepared to give Head Space one more, and only one more, chance today.

My big golf bet is not looking good after day one. I am jumping ship and going for Graeme McDowell to step up to the plate on day two.

And keep an 'in-running' eye on perennial shirker that is Romeo Montague in the 3.20 at Ascot today as he looks lay material.
