Coral Eclipse memories
It is the Coral Eclipse this weekend and I am loving Racing UK's little walk down memory lane with the presenters choosing their favourite winners from the last 30 years. My two favourites have to be Nashwan as he was my very first Derby winner and the ultimate racehorse, and secondly Notnowcato in 2007.
I remember Ryan Moore switching to the stand side rail and just getting home in front of Frankie on Authorized and not-so-prolific-at-stud 'Gorgeous' George Washington. A great ride to beat a great field and it landed me a nice double on the day. Good memories are always better memories when you have a winner.
Saturday’s race looks like a pretty decent contest with some horses like Bonfire, who have a little to prove up against solid Group One performers like Cityscape, So You Think, Twice Over and Nathaniel. The bookies are reporting heavy money for the Gosden horse yesterday but the trainer is urging caution after Nathaniel scoped badly and missed his intended pre-run at Sandown and has not seen the track since October. I will have a more detailed look at the race on Saturday when we have a better idea on the state of the ground.
Good luck today.
