Botti fillies look Appealing
28 June 2012
The Botti girls look quite Appealing!
I am focusing my attention on two of Mr Botti's horses today, one of them I want to back the other I want to lay.
The first horse is Appealing who steps up in class to contest the fillies’ Listed race at 3.40 at Warwick. A disappointing run is sandwiched between two decent efforts and I liked the way she travelled last time out at Yarmouth. She did it quite easily to stretch away from a Sir Michael Stoute opponent and she could have won a lot further than the finishing distance implies.
The ground today is an unknown factor for most of these fillies but horses that have won on Wolverhampton's artificial surface tend to be okay on a soft surface and I think there is more to come from the Botti three-year-old. Adam Kirby is a solid jockey especially when teaming up with the Italian master’s horses. It is only the ground that stops this being a maximum bet for me today so I will have a small cover place bet just in case.
The second of Mr Botti's ladies that I have an interest in today was also a winner last time out. Strawberrymystique goes in the fillies’ handicap at Yarmouth at 4.50. But this horse I want to lay.
My first reason is that the current price of 5/2 is far too short to be taking a chance on a horse that has won just one race that was a pretty average handicap at Wolverhampton. The second reason is the opposition and mainly Lucy Wadham's Tuscania who has run in some pretty hot races and stayed on well in all them without troubling the winner. Today's race marks a step down in class and if I take fitness as a given along with the first-time headgear we could see a marked improvement over the extra distance today at a decent price.
Good luck today.
